Buffalo Fusion

The Buffalo Roller Fusion Tier 1 adult team took home the gold at the TORHS National Championships in Detroit. Despite the loss of team captain, Joe Malonowski, the Fusion were able to overcome a short bench and inexperience at the national level. Competing in the Men's Silver Division, they compiled a 2-2 record in the preliminary round, taking the 3rd seed into the playoff round. On the back of Denny Schlegel's tournament leading 23 points, the Fusion were able to avenge earlier loses to the Tour Bordercats and the Detroit Danglers to win the championship. In this, their inaugural season, the Fusion Tier 1 squad exceeded expectations and will begin playing in the Men's Gold division next season.

The Tier 2 Adult Fusion team competed the same weekend in the Bronze division. Despite a 1-2-1 record they were unable to move on to the playoff round. In only their second tournament as a team, the group showed vast improvements. Strong play and an obvious determination from each player will help carry this team in future tournaments.

In the 18u division Platinum, the Fusion went home without a victory against the best competition the country has to offer. Much like the Tier 2 Adult team, the 18u played much better than their record shows. Against some of the best teams in the country at the 18u age group, the Fusion played very strong defensively and showed the potential for high caliber roller team for years to come.
